Tragic Road Accident in Alwar Rajasthan : Five Killed as Scorpio Plunges into Water Pit

Alwar, March 7 – A devastating road accident on the Deeg-Bharatpur road near the RTO office late Thursday night claimed the lives of five people, including the groom’s uncle and cousins, while four others sustained serious injuries. The tragic mishap occurred when a speeding Scorpio, part of a wedding procession traveling from Alwar to Agra, lost control and plunged into a water-filled pit after a stray dog suddenly appeared in front of the vehicle.

Eyewitnesses and Rescue Efforts

Passersby immediately halted their vehicles and rushed to aid the victims, assisting in the rescue operation. The injured were swiftly transported to Deeg Government Hospital, while the local police were alerted about the accident. A JCB machine was deployed to extract the submerged vehicle from the pit.

Details of the Fatal Accident

According to ASI Naubat Singh of Deeg Police Station, the wedding procession of groom Naresh was en route from Moodpuri village, Alwar, to Santha village in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. While the groom’s vehicle and other cars had safely passed the route, the Scorpio carrying family members met with the fatal accident.

Near the RTO office in Deeg, the car suddenly encountered a dog on the road, causing the driver to lose control. The vehicle veered off the road and plunged into a deep water pit, leading to instant fatalities.

Survivors Recount the Horror

One of the injured survivors, Shailendra Singh (resident of Jhareda, Alwar), recounted the terrifying moments before the accident. He revealed that the driver had swerved the vehicle to avoid hitting a sudden obstacle—a dog and a biker—resulting in the Scorpio losing balance and plunging into the pit. The vehicle remained submerged for nearly 15 minutes before rescue teams and bystanders managed to retrieve the victims.

Injured Victims and Medical Assistance

Among the injured were:

  • Shailendra (29), son of Himmat
  • Guddu alias Malkhan (32), son of Ratan Singh Rajput
  • Jeevan Singh (32)
  • Adil

They were rushed to Deeg Hospital, where they received immediate medical attention and were later discharged after primary treatment. The survivors have since returned to Alwar.

Official Response and Investigation

The bodies of Devendra, Girvar, and Bantu are currently preserved at the Deeg Hospital mortuary, while Samay Singh and Kanhu’s remains have been shifted to RBM Hospital in Bharatpur.

Upon receiving news of the tragic accident, senior officials, including District Collector Utsav Kaushal, SP Rajesh Kumar Meena, and ASP Akhlesh Sharma, rushed to the scene. They also visited the hospital to assess the situation and ensure that the necessary investigation and support measures were in place.
