Bhojpur, Bihar : In a heart-wrenching tragedy that turned a moment of celebration into mourning, a newlywed bride lost her life in a road accident just hours after her wedding, while the groom battles for survival in ICU.
The incident took place on Wednesday morning, shortly after the wedding of Lalita Kumari (21), daughter of the late Doodhnath Singh from Inarpur village under Hasan Bazar OP area, with Monu Kumar, son of Om Prakash Singh from Rajmahaldeeh village. The wedding was solemnized on Tuesday night.
A Dream That Turned into a Nightmare
Lalita was being taken to her in-laws’ home when tragedy struck. As the bridal car approached Sikraul Petrol Pump on the Bihia-Bihta State Highway in Sikrahata police station limits, a speeding truck collided with their vehicle. The impact was so severe that seven people, including the bride and groom, sustained serious injuries.
Both Lalita and Monu were rushed to a private hospital in Ara and later referred to a hospital in Patna for advanced treatment. Despite doctors’ efforts, Lalita succumbed to her injuries on Thursday afternoon. Monu remains in critical condition in ICU, fighting for his life.
Wedding Turns into Mourning
What was meant to be the beginning of a new life turned into an unimaginable loss. Lalita’s departure from her maternal home became her final farewell. Families that had been dancing to wedding songs were soon plunged into grief and silence. The festive decorations now frame a mourning house.
Lalita, who was third among four siblings, had already lost her father ten years ago. Her sudden death has devastated both families. Former MLA Bhai Dinesh expressed deep sorrow over the accident and urged the administration to provide compensation to the bereaved family.
