New Delhi, Feb 23 : The Supreme Court on Wednesday dismissed a PIL seeking to conduct the Class 10 and 12 board examinations through online mode and pulled up the petitioner for an ill-conceived petition which created confusion among lakhs of students. A three-judge Bench of the Supreme Court headed by Justice A M Khanwilkar warned the petitioner of exemplary costs if such action was repeated. The other two judges in the Bench were C T Ravikumar and Dinesh Maheshwari. The Supreme Court said its last year order on postponing the examination cannot become a norm to pass the same order this academic year also. It said the authorities were aware about the ground realities and were capable of taking a decision and the court should not interfere in such issues. The bench said the plea was premature and ill-advised since the authorities were yet to decide on the rules and dates for the examination. “Such kind of petitions are being filed? How can you keep on filing such petitions? Such petitions only confuse the students,” the court said. The court said that it would impose costs on the petitioner is such petitions were filed in future. The plea filed by students from over 15 states across the country was mentioned on Tuesday before Chief Justice N V Ramana who agreed to list it before a bench headed by Justice Khanwilkar. SM MR
