Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 to Feature Key Upgrades but Retain Same Battery Size

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 is shaping up to be a notable upgrade in the foldable smartphone segment. However, according to recent leaks, one critical aspect will remain unchanged—its battery capacity.

Galaxy Z Fold 7: A Thinner Design and Significant Enhancements

The Galaxy Z Fold lineup has seen gradual improvements over the years, with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 introducing some refinements but struggling to stand out against emerging foldable competitors. The upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7 is expected to bring a thinner body, a larger display, and a revamped S Pen integration to accommodate its streamlined profile.

According to Weibo leaker Setsuna Digital, Samsung is also enhancing key aspects of the device, including:

  • An improved hinge mechanism that may reduce the visible crease on the foldable display.
  • Upgraded camera system, including the main sensor and under-display camera for better photography and video quality.
  • Enhanced water and dust resistance, making the device more durable.

These changes appear to align with the Galaxy Z Fold SE, which launched last year with an 8-inch display and a 200MP primary camera.

No Battery Upgrade for Galaxy Z Fold 7

Despite these major improvements, one area where Samsung seems to be sticking to previous generations is battery capacity. Reports indicate that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will continue using a 4,400mAh battery, the same size featured in the Galaxy Z Fold 3, Fold 4, and Fold 6.

Additionally, charging speeds are unlikely to see any upgrades, meaning Samsung might maintain its 25W wired charging limit, which lags behind some of its rivals in the foldable smartphone space.

Launch Timeline

Samsung is expected to officially unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 7 alongside its next-generation foldables later this year. While design and feature refinements may make the Fold 7 a compelling option, the lack of a battery upgrade could be a disappointment for power users looking for improved endurance in a premium foldable device.
