Report Fake Calls on ‘Chakshu’: Curb Cybercriminal Activities, Here’s How to Report

On Monday, Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw launched Chakshu and Digital Intelligence Platform (DIP) on the Sanchar Sathi portal to report cybercrimes. The live broadcast of the event was also held at the Additional DG (Telecom) Office, Rajasthan LSA, Department of Telecommunications, Ground Floor, Sanchar Bhawan, Jhalana Institutional Area, Jaipur. Both platforms will be able to curb cybercrimes with double force.

Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said: This platform will help curb the activities of cybercriminals. Nowadays, people are constantly receiving fake calls. If someone has been cyber-frauded, they can report it on DIP through this platform. Or if you receive a call, SMS, or WhatsApp offering a job or KYC, there is a possibility of cybercrime. So report it on Chakshu.

Here is the complete process of filing a complaint on Sanchar Sathi:

  1. Open the website sancharsaathi.gov.in.
  2. Click on Citizen Centric Services.
  3. In the first box, you will see Report Suspected Fraud Communication (Chakshu), click on it.
  4. A window will open from Chakshu. Click on Continue for Reporting.
  5. The first question will appear: How were you contacted? There will be three options – SMS, Call, WhatsApp. Select one.
  6. Second question… What was the conversation about? There will be many options like KYC sextortion, select one.
  7. Then you have to attach the screenshot. You can upload it by clicking on Choose File.
  8. Enter the date and time when the call or message was received.
  9. Write the complaint in maximum 500 words.
  10. Then enter your name and number.
  11. Type the captcha. Click on Verify Mobile Via OTP.

How this platform will work:

  • The police of the area where the number is active will be informed.
  • The owner of the number will be asked for KYC within 2 days. Outgoing will be stopped immediately.
  • If KYC is not done, the agencies will take action.
  • If there are internet calls, the app will map the IP address.
  • It will be easy to trace the links, messages or calls being made in bulk from where.
