Ranchi, 15 November (Udaipur Kiran). Three policemen were found dead on Saturday morning after their vehicle fell into the Dhurwa Dam in the Nagri police station area of Ranchi. The deceased have been identified as two bodyguards of the Principal District Judge of Jamshedpur and a government driver.
According to information, the two bodyguards and the driver were travelling late Friday night when their vehicle lost control near the Dhurwa Dam and plunged into the water. All three died in the accident. The victims have been identified as Upendra Kumar Singh, Robin Kujur and Satyendra Singh.
Locals said a vehicle was seen passing near the dam late Friday night before it suddenly veered and fell into the water. After receiving the information, Dhurwa and Nagri police reached the spot. With the help of locals, divers and police, the car was pulled out after two to three hours of effort. Three bodies and two police weapons were recovered from the vehicle.
Hatia DSP Pramod Kumar Mishra said the vehicle fell into the dam after losing control, leading to the deaths of the three policemen. Rescue teams retrieved the bodies and their weapons from the dam.
Police have begun an investigation. As per initial details, the three policemen had left the Judicial Academy in Dhurwa in a Swift car and were heading towards the dam when the incident occurred. The recovered vehicle is also being examined.
