New Zealands Rachin Ravindra Out of T20 Series Against India Due to Shoulder Injury

Rachin Ravindra has been ruled out of the T20 series against India due to a shoulder injury, with Adam Milne returning to the squad.

Auckland, September 23 (Udaipur Kiran) : New Zealand’s young all-rounder Rachin Ravindra will miss the upcoming T20 series against India due to a shoulder injury sustained during a promotional shoot last week. The injury is expected to keep him sidelined for six weeks.

Head coach Rob Walter addressed the media on Wednesday, stating, “He has a shoulder injury. It was a bad accident, but it has healed quite quickly. He is feeling pretty good. We have the ODI series in mind, and we won’t rush him back. We hope he will be available for the ODI series.”

Walter also commented on Ravindra’s tendency to get injured in unusual ways, saying, “He finds unique ways to hurt himself. Things happen, and honestly, I don’t think too much about it.”

When asked about the scheduling of promotional shoots before important matches, Walter explained, “We don’t do promo work a day before a Test or a big game. I think the placement was fine. Strange things happen. If he slipped on the pavement and twisted his ankle, would I stop him from walking? It just happens. Again, I don’t want to overthink it. I believe all safety measures for players were taken, and we might have learned something from this, but it should remain as it is.”

In a positive development for the team, fast bowler Adam Milne is set to return, marking his first T20 match in over a year. He will join a formidable pace attack that includes Lockie Ferguson, Matt Henry, Kyle Jamieson, Jacob Duffy, Jack Foulkes, and Nathan Smith.

Walter praised Milne’s dedication to improving his skills, noting, “What impresses me most about Milne is that every time you see him, he has developed a new skill or improved existing ones. He is always trying to enhance his game. Having such an experienced player, especially in the T20 format, is fantastic for the squad.”

In Ravindra’s absence, Bevan Jacobs has been included in the Kiwi team. The 24-year-old has scored 183 runs in 11 T20 matches, including a half-century.

The T20 series between New Zealand and India is set to begin on October 22, with matches scheduled for October 22, 24, 27, 30, and November 1. The New Zealand squad for the series includes Mitchell Santner (captain), Finn Allen, Michael Bracewell, Mark Chapman, Devon Conway, Jacob Duffy, Lockie Ferguson, Jack Foulkes, Matt Henry, Bevan Jacobs, Kyle Jamieson, Adam Milne, Daryl Mitchell, Glenn Phillips, Tim Seifert, and Nathan Smith.
