Jaipur, April 5 – With summer intensifying in Rajasthan, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for a heatwave across the state, warning residents of extreme heat over the next four days. Starting today, parts of the state are likely to experience temperatures up to 44°C, especially in western Rajasthan.

In Jaipur, intense sunlight was felt as early as 10 AM, with no relief until late evening. After sunset, a slight dip in temperature brought brief respite.
What’s Causing the Sudden Spike in Heat?
Weather experts say the formation of an anti-cyclonic system near the Pakistan-Rajasthan border is pushing hot westerly winds into the region, leading to a sudden and sharp rise in temperatures.
What to Expect Ahead
By April 8, most of western and central Rajasthan will be under heatwave conditions. Daytime temperatures in areas like Barmer, Jaisalmer, and Bikaner could hit 44°C, increasing the risk of heatstroke and other heat-related illnesses.
