PWD Engineer, Two Contractors Held with ₹4.04 Lakh Bribe in Bhilwara

Jaipur, May 5, 2026 (Udaipur Kiran): Acting on directions from the ACB headquarters, the Anti-Corruption Bureau’s Bhilwara First Unit carried out a trap operation and arrested Shahzad Mohammad, Executive Engineer, Public Works Department, Shahpura, along with contractors Banwarilal and Moduram Dhakad while allegedly exchanging a bribe amount of ₹4,04,000.

According to officials, the accused engineer was collecting money from PWD contractors in return for works executed, both for himself and for Superintending Engineer Khemchand Meena. The amount was being collected through contractors Moduram Dhakad, Banwarilal and others.

Director General of Police, ACB, Govind Gupta said that based on source information regarding corruption in the Public Works Department, the bureau conducted surveillance and found involvement of suspected public servants and private individuals in corrupt activities.

Under the supervision of DIG Narayan Togas, ACB Ajmer Range, a team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Parasmal from ACB Bhilwara First carried out the trap at the Collectorate office in Bhilwara. The accused were caught during the exchange of the bribe, and ₹4,04,000 was recovered from the possession of Shahzad Mohammad.

Further questioning and proceedings are ongoing under the supervision of Additional Director General of Police Smita Srivastava and Inspector General S. Parimala. The ACB has registered a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act and initiated further investigation. Searches at the residence and other locations of the accused are continuing.
