Jaipur, May 5, 2026 (Udaipur Kiran) — An Air India Express flight from Bengaluru to Jaipur was unable to land on its first attempt on Tuesday and had to perform a go-around after touching the runway. The aircraft landed safely about seven minutes later.

Flight IX-1494, operated by a Boeing 737, approached Jaipur airport for landing at around 12:35 pm. Although the aircraft came very close to the runway and made brief contact, the pilot decided to abort the landing due to an unstable approach and initiated a go-around as per safety protocols.
During this procedure, the aircraft was taken back to a higher altitude and moved away from the runway to prepare for a fresh landing attempt. The second attempt was successful, bringing relief to around 150 passengers and crew onboard.
As per aviation norms, a go-around is mandatory if there is any instability in speed, angle, or alignment during landing. The pilot’s decision ensured adherence to safety standards and avoided any potential risk.
Aviation expert Sohan Singh Nathawat stated that a go-around is a standard safety procedure and not an unusual situation. He noted that such decisions are taken to prioritise passenger safety and prevent any possible incident.
