President leaves for London to attend Queen Elizabeth’s funeral

New Delhi : President Droupadi Murmu left for a visit to London, United Kingdom (UK) on Saturday to offer condolences from the Indian government at the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, India-UK relations have developed, flourished and strengthened immensely during the last 70 years of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign. As the head of the Commonwealth, he played a vital role in the welfare of millions of people around the world.

Queen Elizabeth II, the former head of Britain and the head of the Commonwealth of Nations, died on 08 September 2022. President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the death of Queen Elizabeth.

External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar had visited the British High Commission in New Delhi on September 12, 2022 to express his condolences to India. A day of national mourning was also observed in India on 11 September in her honour.
