Power Grid Shares Slip After 6% Decline in Q2 Consolidated Net Profit

Mumbai, November 5 (Udaipur Kiran) — Shares of Power Grid Corporation of India traded lower on Tuesday after the state-run power transmission major reported a 6% year-on-year drop in consolidated net profit for the quarter ended September 30, 2025 (Q2FY26).

The stock is currently trading at ₹280.00, down by ₹8.00 or 2.78% from its previous close of ₹288.00 on the BSE. The scrip opened at ₹284.00 and touched an intraday high of ₹284.85 and a low of ₹278.70, with around 4,46,747 shares traded so far.

The BSE Group ‘A’ stock, with a face value of ₹10, has a 52-week high of ₹345.25 (recorded on November 25, 2024) and a 52-week low of ₹247.50 (on February 28, 2025). The company’s market capitalization currently stands at ₹2,60,742.43 crore.

Promoters hold 51.34% of the company’s shares, while institutional and non-institutional investors own 45.06% and 3.61%, respectively.

For Q2FY26, Power Grid reported a standalone net profit of ₹3,554.80 crore, down 4.21% from ₹3,711.16 crore in the same quarter last year. The company’s total income declined slightly to ₹11,348.27 crore, compared to ₹11,383.34 crore in Q2FY25.

On a consolidated basis, the net profit fell 5.98% to ₹3,566.08 crore, against ₹3,793.02 crore a year ago. Total income decreased marginally by 1.48% to ₹11,670.24 crore, compared to ₹11,845.93 crore in the corresponding period last year.

Analysts attributed the dip in profitability to lower tariff realizations, moderate project additions, and rising operating expenses, even as the company continued to maintain steady operational efficiency.
