Mumbai, May 15: Mumbai Indians’ batting coach Kieron Pollard has been fined 15% of his match fee following a breach of the IPL Code of Conduct during a recent match against Punjab Kings (PBKS). In addition to the fine, Pollard has received a demerit point.
The incident occurred during the 19th over of Mumbai’s innings when Pollard was seen arguing with the fourth umpire and reportedly used offensive language. Pollard was found guilty of violating Article 2.3 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which pertains to the use of abusive language by players and team officials during a match.
In a statement released by the IPL on Friday, it was confirmed that Pollard was penalized for breaking Level 1 of the Code of Conduct for players and team officials, and he has accepted the punishment handed down by match referee Pankaj Dharmani.
In the match played on Thursday at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala, Mumbai Indians delivered an impressive performance, defeating Punjab Kings by six wickets. PBKS set a target of 200 runs, scoring 200 runs for the loss of eight wickets, with Prabhsimran Singh contributing a solid 57 runs. However, MI chased down the target successfully, thanks to a blistering unbeaten 75 runs off 33 balls by Tilak Varma.
