Acting on a tip-off that a rave party was being organised, a police team raided the farm house, situated inside a thick forest cover on the city outskirts in the early hours and found the participants allegedly indulging in obscene dance acts, Dysp Madhuri Verma said. The farm house reportedly belonged to a Gujarati family. The participants were being served costly liquor and there were girls who had been called from Pune and Mumbai. To evade public glare and notice, the group had parked their vehicles elsewhere as police found just three to four cars in the premises. There was a commotion as cops barged inside and raided all the rooms. Some 25 men managed to jump the 5-feet wall and escaped into the dark.
Teams chased them but couldnt arrest the men. The women were members of sex racket who were booked for their service by the Gujarati group for three to four days. They had come to Udaipur by air, investigation revealed. Of those arrested were Sanjay Patel, Vijay Patel, Prafull Patel, Rajesh Patel, Nilesh Patel, Ramesh, Rajendra and Pravin Patel who were residents of Morvi and Rajkot cities. Police has seized cash and mobile phones from their custody. Last month too, in a similar raid, Udaipur police had busted a punting racket from a hotel in Dungarpur district. A whooping cash of 48 Lakh rupees was seized and account slips worth rupees 10 Cr was found from the custody of the hotel owner. Most of the men arrested were from Gujarat. According to the police, there are big rackets from Gujarat involved in organizing punting and rave parties in hotels and farm houses situated in bordering areas of Udaipur and Dungarpur. Since Gujarat is a dry state, large number of men throng these places for merrymaking.
