Prime Minister said solar pumps are replacing diesel and electric pumps.
28 Lakh farmers will get solar pumps over the next 4 years.
This will ensure free electricity and the option to sell surplus power to distribution companies.
Bringing up the issue of burning of stubble, Prime Minister said that the government is offering 50 to 80% subsidy on machines to clear the fields.
He called on farmers to adopt the waste to wealth model.
Prime Minister hailed the role that the agriculture sector plays in strengtehning India’s economy and said that his government is doing all it can to support farmers.
