The companies have launched the new feature in tandem with Spotify. The new feature won’t resonate with one and all, but it can be quite useful. OnePlus and OPPO phones will soon display the Spotify app overlay when a user is gaming, OnePlus founder and OPPO’s Chief Product Officer, Pete Lau, informed. However, this new feature is available in few markets only.
New Spotify feature for OnePlus, OPPO phones
Lau on X shared the announcement about OnePlus and OPPO phones getting this new Spotify feature. It’s part of the gaming tools available on these phones that lets you access a certain portion of features and apps while you are gaming. The new feature will now automatically show a Spotify app overlay in case you like to listen to music while gaming. This feature is available on OnePlus and OPPO smartphones in select markets including India.
The Spotify overlay now displays three tabs: Recommended for Today’, your library, and the app’s home screen. It will show you the Now Playing tab just below the tabs but cannot go back to the previous song. You can only skip to the next one. The Recommended for Today tab even shows a playlist with the top gaming tracks. So you basically have a minimized version of Spotify without having to leave your game or open the app separately.
To access Spotify while gaming, you have to add the application to the gaming mode and then give access. From here onwards, you swipe down below from the right-hand corner and find the gaming mode screen. Clicking on the Spotify app brings on the overlay of Spotify on your screen and you are ready to browse through several songs and pick one that catches your ear. You can simply tap any part of the screen to hide the screen of Spotify.
