Milestone Achievement in EV Innovation

Ola Electric announced that it has successfully obtained ARAI certification for vehicles powered by its indigenously developed 4680 Bharat Cells, marking a major step in India’s EV manufacturing ecosystem.

The certified 5.2 kWh battery pack will debut in the company’s upcoming S1 Pro+ model, making it the first Ola scooter to run on in-house cell technology. Until now, Ola has relied on third-party cells across its scooters and motorcycles.

This new milestone brings Ola closer to achieving vertical integration in electric vehicle manufacturing — a move expected to enhance range, performance, and cost efficiency, while reducing dependency on global supply chains as the company’s Gigafactory scales up production.

Rigorous Global Testing Standards

The certification process involved one of the world’s most stringent testing regimes, evaluating safety, performance, and reliability under extreme conditions. The 4680 packs successfully cleared tests for water immersion, vibration durability, and thermal shock resistance, reaffirming Ola’s commitment to safety and durability.

Ola Electric called the certification a “pivotal moment” in its mission to develop world-class EV technology in India, powered entirely by its own battery cells.

Ola Electric Mobility manufactures electric vehicles and key EV components — including battery packs, motors, and vehicle frames — at its Ola Future Factory, one of the largest EV manufacturing facilities in the country.
