New Delhi, October 24 (Udaipur Kiran): In a move to enhance transparency and awareness among highway users, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) on Friday announced that detailed information on Local Monthly Passes (LMP) and Annual Passes (AP) will now be prominently displayed at all toll plazas across the country.

According to an official statement, the initiative aims to ensure that road users have accurate and accessible details regarding the availability, rates, and process of obtaining these toll passes.
NHAI said that the information will be displayed on signage boards at key visible points — including entry and exit lanes, customer service areas, and toll booth approaches. The signage will be available in English, Hindi, and/or local regional languages to ensure maximum accessibility.
Regional offices have been instructed to install these display boards within 30 days and to ensure that all signages remain clearly visible both during the day and at night, in compliance with toll fee regulations.
In addition to physical displays, the complete details will also be available on the ‘RajmargYatra’ mobile application and the official project websites of NHAI.
Multiple passes for ease and affordability
NHAI highlighted that highway users can avail several discounted pass options designed to make regular travel more convenient and cost-effective.
-
The Local Monthly Pass (LMP) is available to residents living within a 20 km radius of a toll plaza (where applicable) and is meant for private vehicle owners.
-
To obtain an LMP, users must provide documents such as Aadhaar card, vehicle registration certificate (RC), and residential proof. After verification, the pass is issued at the toll plaza helpdesk.
Similarly, the Annual Pass — valid for one year or 200 toll crossings (whichever is earlier) — is available only for private vehicles such as cars, jeeps, and vans.
The annual pass can be purchased through the RajmargYatra app for a one-time fee of ₹3,000, after which it is digitally activated on the vehicle’s linked FASTag. It is valid across approximately 1,150 toll plazas on national highways and expressways across India.
NHAI officials said the new transparency measures will help reduce confusion, ensure uniform information access, and encourage more users to adopt digital and discounted toll payment systems for smoother travel experiences.
