Udaipur, September 24 (Udaipur Kiran News): Member of Parliament Dr. Mannalal Rawat has written to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, requesting that the Udaipur–Chandigarh–Udaipur Superfast train (20989/20990) be renamed either Haldighati Superfast or Janjatiya Gaurav Mangarh Dham Superfast.

In his letter, Dr. Rawat pointed out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually inaugurate the bi-weekly train from Banswara on September 25. The train originates from Udaipur (Mewar), a land known for the historic Battle of Haldighati that symbolises bravery, sacrifice, and the struggle for freedom. He also emphasised that the region is predominantly tribal, and PM Modi has already declared 2025 as the Year of Tribal Pride.
Dr. Rawat highlighted the historical importance of Mangarh Dham in South Rajasthan, where in 1913, under the leadership of Sant Govind Guru, nearly 1,500 Bhil freedom fighters were martyred fighting against the British. Naming the train after Haldighati or Mangarh Dham, he said, would honour the heritage and pride of the region.
Welcoming PM Modi’s upcoming visit to Banswara, the MP also expressed gratitude on behalf of the people for the launch of the Udaipur–Chandigarh rail service and the foundation stone of a major nuclear power project in the tribal belt. He said these initiatives will boost local employment, reduce migration, and open new opportunities for youth in the region.
