Major Drug Destruction in Greater Noida: Over ₹12 Crores Worth of Narcotics Destroyed

Greater Noida, September 23 (Udaipur Kiran) : In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Greater Noida police have destroyed narcotics valued at approximately ₹12.43 crores as part of ‘Operation Dahan’. Under the guidance of Police Commissioner Laxmi Singh, this operation involved the destruction of seized drugs linked to 224 cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

On September 22, a large quantity of various narcotics was destroyed, including over 2,253 kilograms of cannabis, nearly 21 kilograms of hashish, 2 kilograms of opium, 27 grams of heroin, 3,206 narcotic tablets, and 51 grams of narcotic powder. These substances were confiscated by the police from different police stations within the Greater Noida jurisdiction.

According to police officials, the destruction of these drugs is part of ongoing efforts to combat the illegal trafficking and sale of narcotics. The seized substances are securely stored until legal proceedings are completed, after which they are destroyed under the supervision of a special committee formed by the police.

This committee oversees the investigation and legal formalities related to the cases, ensuring that all necessary permissions are obtained from the court before proceeding with the destruction. The police emphasize that the large-scale destruction of narcotics not only represents a proper disposal process for seized materials but also signifies the ongoing commitment to curbing illegal drug trafficking.

In addition to dismantling drug trafficking networks, the destruction of narcotics is a crucial aspect of this campaign. The Greater Noida police aim to protect the youth and future generations from the grip of addiction and to effectively combat the illegal drug trade in society. They have urged the public to cooperate in this initiative.

Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activities related to drug trafficking or sales to local police stations or by calling emergency number 112. The police believe that public cooperation and information will enhance the effectiveness of their efforts against the illegal drug trade.
