Bhopal, May 17 — Madhya Pradesh is set to witness a mixed spell of scorching heat, thunderstorms, and rain over the next four days, as weather conditions fluctuate sharply across the state. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a thunderstorm and rainfall alert for 39 districts on Saturday, including major cities such as Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, and Gwalior.

The forecast indicates that this volatile weather pattern will persist till May 20, driven by three cyclonic circulations and an active trough system over the region. In addition to rain and strong winds, heatwave conditions are expected to persist in some northern districts, especially during the night.

The IMD has predicted thunderstorms with wind speeds of 30–50 km/h, accompanied by rainfall in the following districts:
Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Bhind, Shivpuri, Datia, Ashoknagar, Vidisha, Raisen, Narmadapuram, Betul, Harda, Sehore, Rajgarh, Shajapur, Dewas, Khandwa, Burhanpur, Khargone, Agar-Malwa, Neemuch, Mandsaur, Ratlam, Jhabua, Alirajpur, Barwani, Niwari, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Sagar, Damoh, Narsinghpur, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Seoni, Balaghat, and Singrauli.
Residents in these areas are advised to remain indoors during storm activity and secure loose objects to prevent accidents.
