Bhopal, May 20 — Madhya Pradesh is witnessing a dramatic weather split with blistering heat in some regions and stormy showers in others. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert for over 40 districts, including Bhopal, Indore, and Gwalior, predicting strong winds and thunderstorms on Tuesday.

Stormy Weather Expected in Multiple Districts
According to IMD, a cyclonic circulation and an active trough over the region are triggering unstable weather conditions. Wind speeds are expected to range from 30 to 50 km/h, bringing light to moderate rain along with thunderstorms in many parts of the state.
Districts under alert include:
Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior, Morena, Bhind, Datia, Niwari, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Rewa, Sidhi, Singrauli, Panna, Damoh, Mandla, Balaghat, Seoni, Pandhurna, Chhindwara, Narsinghpur, Sagar, Vidisha, Raisen, Narmadapuram, Betul, Harda, Sehore, Shajapur, Dewas, Khandwa, Burhanpur, Khargone, Barwani, Dhar, Alirajpur, Jhabua, Ratlam, Mandsaur, and Neemuch.
Damage Reported Due to Monday’s Thunderstorms
On Monday, heavy winds and scattered rain were reported in several parts of Madhya Pradesh.
In Mhow (Indore), tin roofs were blown off houses due to strong gusts.
In Bhopal, the afternoon brought sudden heavy winds followed by rain.
Rainfall was also reported in Devas, Damoh, Guna, Sagar, Chhindwara, Raisen, Barwani, Mauganj, Ratlam, and Bina.
Sidhi saw 1.25 inches of rain, while Shivpuri received half an inch.
In Barwani’s Sendhwa block, winds damaged thatched roofs, caused the collapse of a house wall, and blew away stalls near temple premises.
Khajuraho Records Season’s Highest Temperature
While thunderstorms provided relief in some areas, extreme heat gripped others.
Khajuraho (Chhatarpur) recorded a sweltering 46°C on Monday — the highest this season. Other significant temperature readings include:
