Madhya Pradesh Sizzles as Temperatures Near 40°C, Heatwave to Intensify After Holi

Bhopal, March 13 : The scorching heat in Madhya Pradesh is showing no signs of slowing down as temperatures soar close to 40°C across several regions. The hottest location on Wednesday was Khajuraho, where the maximum temperature touched 39.4°C, while Mandla recorded the lowest nighttime temperature at 13.4°C. Among the five major cities, Ujjain remained the hottest, reaching 38°C, while Bhopal, Indore, and Jabalpur also crossed 37°C. The rising temperatures are expected to continue, with further intensification post-Holi.

Rising Heatwave Across Madhya Pradesh

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the clear skies are allowing direct sunlight to heat the land, leading to a significant rise in daytime temperatures.

  • Khajuraho – 39.4°C
  • Narmadapuram – 39.1°C
  • Ratlam & Mandla – 39.0°C
  • Dhar – 38.8°C
  • Damoh – 38.5°C
  • Satna – 38.2°C
  • Shivpuri, Sagar & Nowgaon – 38.0°C
  • Tikamgarh – 37.8°C
  • Shajapur – 37.6°C
  • Betul – 37.5°C
  • Rewa – 37.0°C

Major Cities Witnessing Intense Heat:

  • Bhopal – 37.8°C
  • Indore – 37.2°C
  • Gwalior – 36.6°C
  • Ujjain – 38.0°C
  • Jabalpur – 37.6°C

Night Temperatures Also on the Rise

Not just the daytime heat, but nighttime temperatures are also increasing, providing little respite from the heat. On Tuesday-Wednesday night, the highest minimum temperature was recorded in Dhar at 23.2°C. Other key locations where night temperatures exceeded 20°C include:

  • Bhopal
  • Indore
  • Khandwa
  • Khargone
  • Rewa
  • Seoni

With rising nighttime temperatures, it is evident that summer has firmly set in across the state.
