Kathmandu, October 5 (Udaipur Kiran News): Severe landslides and floods triggered by continuous heavy rainfall have claimed 40 lives across Nepal in the past 36 hours, with at least 13 others injured in multiple disaster-related incidents, including lightning strikes and road accidents.
According to Armed Police Force (APF) spokesperson Shailendra Thapa, the Ilam district has been the worst affected, reporting 28 deaths and two serious injuries due to landslides and floods. Additionally, 11 people are reported missing across different regions.

Other districts have also reported casualties: Udayapur (2 deaths), Rautahat (3 deaths), Rasuwa (4 deaths), and Kathmandu (1 death).
Eight people were injured by lightning strikes in Khotang, Bhojpur, Rautahat, and Makwanpur districts. Meanwhile, a separate landslide-induced road accident in Panchthar district claimed six lives and left six others injured.
Authorities are continuing rescue and relief operations, though access to several affected areas remains difficult due to blocked roads and ongoing rainfall.
