Indian Mens Kabaddi Team Dominates Japan in Asian Games Opener

Nagoya, September 21 (Udaipur Kiran) : The Indian men’s kabaddi team made a stunning start at the 2026 Asian Games, overpowering host nation Japan with a decisive 49-23 victory in Nagoya. Under the leadership of captain Sunil Kumar, the team displayed exceptional skill and teamwork throughout the match.

From the beginning, India asserted its dominance. The raiders were in excellent form, consistently breaching Japan’s defenses and accumulating points without much resistance. Ashu Malik stood out, executing a remarkable super raid that eliminated three Japanese players at once, while the Indian defense managed to execute two all-outs in the first half. By the end of the first half, India had established a commanding lead of 31-9.

In the second half, Japan attempted to stage a comeback, quickly scoring points. However, India responded by bringing in key players like Pawan Sahrawat, Arjun Deshwal, and Aslam Inamdar, who helped maintain the pressure. Despite Japan’s improved defensive efforts, it was too late for them to close the gap, as India had already built a significant advantage.

Ashu Malik and Rahul were instrumental in securing the victory for India. The team is now set to face South Korea on Tuesday, aiming to maintain their winning momentum in the tournament.
