Kia Carens Trim Lineup Drastically Reduced Post Carens Clavis Unveil: Only Premium (O) Variant Remains

New Delhi, May 12, 2025 – In a significant product strategy update, Kia India has discontinued most variants of its popular Carens MPV, retaining only the entry-level Premium (O) variant. This comes shortly after the global unveiling of the Kia Carens Clavis, a more compact and lifestyle-focused alternative, suggesting a realignment of the Carens lineup.

Carens Clavis

Only Premium (O) Variant Remains

As per Kia’s official website, the Premium (O) variant, priced at ₹11.40 lakh (ex-showroom), is now the sole offering. It remains available with all three engine options — a naturally aspirated petrol, turbo petrol, and diesel — but only with a manual transmission.

Kia dealers, however, may still have stock of the now-discontinued mid- and top-spec variants. Prospective buyers are advised to inquire locally for any ongoing discounts or clearance offers.

Strategic Shift to Position Carens and Clavis Separately

Kia has stated that both the Carens and Carens Clavis will coexist in the Indian market. The reduction in Carens variants appears to be a strategic move to create clear segmentation and pricing differentiation between the two models. The updated variant strategy is also likely aimed at fleet and commercial buyers, focusing the Carens as a more utilitarian offering while positioning the Clavis as a premium, feature-rich alternative.

Interior Features and Safety

Despite being the base trim, the Premium (O) variant offers a solid list of comfort and convenience features, including:

  • Dual-tone cabin with indigo blue accents

  • 2nd-row One-Touch Electric Tumble

  • Flush-type AC vents for rear rows

  • Sliding and reclining second-row seats

  • Foldable third-row with reclining

  • 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto & Apple CarPlay

  • Electrically adjustable ORVMs with turn indicators

  • 5 USB Type-C charging ports

In terms of safety, the variant is equipped with Kia’s Hi-Safety package, which includes:

  • 6 airbags

  • Electronic Stability Control (ESC)

  • Vehicle Stability Management (VSM)

  • Downhill Brake Control (DBC)

  • All-wheel disc brakes

  • ABS, TPMS, and rear parking sensors

Colour Options Remain Unchanged

The Kia Carens Premium (O) variant continues to be available in all seven colour options previously offered:

  • Imperial Blue

  • Intense Red

  • Aurora Black Pearl

  • Sparkling Silver

  • Gravity Grey

  • Clear White

  • Pewter Olive
