Mumbai, March 29: The second match of the Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026) is underway at the Wankhede Stadium, featuring Mumbai Indians (MI) against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Mumbai Indians’ captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and opted to bowl first.
After winning the toss, Hardik Pandya stated, “We will bowl first. The pitch looks good and appears greener than in previous matches. Let’s see how it plays. This is our fortress, the crowd is with us, and we are ready to play a good game. We started our preparations a few weeks ago. We have a lot of experience along with a good mix of young players. With Rohit, Surya, and Mitchell Santner, we have no shortage of leadership in the team. I am just excited to get on the field and perform well. We are going in with six bowlers and five batsmen.”
KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane expressed, “We wanted to bowl first. We have never seen this much grass at Wankhede before. Our preparations have been good. We have conducted some camps in both Kolkata and Mumbai. We know MI is a champion team, and we are very excited to play against them. We just need to focus on the present and not think about the past. Some players are injured, so we are going in with six batsmen and five bowlers. The team includes four foreign players: Cameron Green, Finn Allen, Sunil Narine, and Blessing Muzarabani.”
It is noteworthy that Blessing Muzarabani is making his debut in this match. He signed with KKR just days before the league, after leaving the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
