New Delhi, May 19: 24-year-old fast bowler Prince Yadav has been rewarded for his impressive performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. He has been selected for the Indian team for the ODI series against Afghanistan.
Born on December 12, 2001, in Delhi, Prince made a name for himself in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2024, where he took 16 wickets in 12 matches. This success led to his debut in the IPL the following year.
The right-arm fast bowler debuted for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in 2025, claiming 3 wickets in 6 matches. In IPL 2026, he has already taken 16 wickets at an average of 24 in 12 matches.
In his first match of the season against Delhi Capitals, Prince took 2 wickets for just 20 runs. He followed this up with another 2 wickets for 34 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad. He also took 1 wicket each against Kolkata Knight Riders and Gujarat Titans, and claimed 3 wickets for 32 runs against Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 15, where he notably bowled out Virat Kohli without him scoring. Kohli was impressed and praised Prince after the match.
However, Prince faced a dry spell against Chennai Super Kings, failing to take any wickets in two consecutive matches.
In his first-class career, Prince has played 2 matches, taking 1 wicket. In 14 List-A matches, he has claimed 29 wickets at an average of 20.31, and he has played 33 T20 matches, taking 38 wickets.
The Indian team will play a three-match ODI series against Afghanistan from June 14 to 20 in Dharamshala, Lucknow, and Chennai. Prince Yadav’s pace bowling, accurate line-length, and control in death overs could strengthen Team India, making him a valuable asset with his ability to put pressure on batsmen.
