Shimla : State Government provided the Rs 50,000 as ex gratia to the kins of 1767 deceased who died in the Covid pandemic in the last two years, Health Minister and Family Welfare Minister Rajiv Saizal said in the state assembly on Saturday.
Replying a query of Rajinder Rana minister informed that kin of deceased who died due to Covid-19 in state are being provided the ex-gratia under the guidelines of National Disaster Management Authority as affected persons have to apply for the ex-gratia under the guidelines. He said that compensation was not being provided to affected persons of the deceased family . The total 4,146 persons have died due to Covid-19 so far only 2,112 persons have applied for compensation. He said that the state Government has granted ex-gratia assistance to 1,767 persons and 341 claims are still pending for consideration.
Minister informed that assistance is being provided to legal heirs of the victims who would have produced a certificate mentioning kins or dependents of Covid deceased as this certificate is prescribed to be verified by competent authority. Earlier raising the query Mr Rana asked the State Government if it had implemented the Supreme Court decisions ordered the Governments to provide Rs four lakh compensation.
