Heavy snowfall in Himalayan states

Road clearance operation started by National highway authority of India & Border Road Origination to remove the remaining debris from Ramban to Banihal & Beacon has cleared the snow from Qazigund to Banihal.

SSP National Highway Sakhti Pathak said that the decision to allow traffic on Monday would be taken after reviewing the latest situation late evening. He said after clearance of road, all Jammu bound stranded vehicles & durbar move employees were allowed towards Jammu Sunday afternoon. 

Meanwhile, Governor Satya Pal Malik took stock of the situation arising due to heavy snowfall in Kashmir valley and winter zone of Jammu division.

The Governor is personally monitoring the situation and has issued instructions to the PDD and PWD for immediate restoration of electricity supply and road connectivity in the affected areas.

Governor has asked the Principal Secretary Finance to make adequate funds available to PDD and PWD for replacement of damaged transformers and snow clearance operations respectively.

While, in Himachal Pradesh, temperature across the state dropped sharply  as high altitudes areas received mild spells of snow, while lower and middle hills were lashed with rain.

State capital Shimla experienced intermittent thunder showers.

There are report of snowfall in Dhauladhar range of Kangra district, Manimesh of Chamba, Jalorijot of Killing,  Shikaridevi of Mandi,  Chanshal pass, Dodrakawar of Shimla.
