Gujarat Monsoon Update: Rains Lash 84 Tehsils, Tankara Receives 4 Inches

Ahmedabad, June 27 (Udaipur Kiran): The monsoon has arrived in all districts of the state. According to the latest update, 84 out of the 252 tehsils in the state have received rainfall in the past 24 hours till Thursday morning. The highest rainfall of 4 inches was recorded in Tankara tehsil of Morbi district. More than 2 inches of rain fell in 6 tehsils of the state.

Monsoon

This year, the monsoon arrived in the state 4 days early but remained confined to South Gujarat for several days. Due to this, people in most parts of the state had been eagerly waiting for the monsoon as the heat continued unabated. Later, the monsoon made its presence felt in Saurashtra and North Gujarat. In the last one week, torrential rains have occurred in all districts of the state.

As per the latest update, 84 tehsils of the state received heavy rains in the past 24 hours till Thursday morning. There was good rainfall in North Gujarat and Saurashtra. Heavy rains in Ambaji of Banaskantha district, Junagadh, Morbi district and some other districts affected public life. Tankara in Morbi district received 4.1 inches (101.6 mm) of rain. Apart from this, 78 mm in Kodinar, 74 mm in Gondal, 71 mm in Junagadh, 58 mm in Danta, 49 mm in Jetpur, 47 mm in Saputara, 42 mm in Kalavad, 42 in Mendarda, 32 mm in Patan-Veraval, 32 mm in Wankaner, 31 mm in Idar, 29 mm in Umarpada, 29 mm in Morwa Hadaf, 28 mm in Mangrol, 25 mm in Halvad, 25 mm in Dabhoi, 25 mm in Chhota Udepur, 24 mm in Lalpur received rain.

Rain has been continuing since Thursday morning in a village near Dhari Gir in Amreli district. Rain has fallen in Sarsia, Govindpur, Sukhpur, Dalakhania, Fasari, Gigasan, Kagsa and surrounding villages of Dhari.

According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rains may occur in Banaskantha of North Gujarat including Navsari, Valsad of South Gujarat, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Devbhoomi Dwarka, Gir Somnath of Saurashtra and Union Territory Dadra Nagar Haveli and Daman on Thursday. Apart from this, there is a possibility of rain in 10 districts of the state on Thursday.
