Paris, June 6: The men’s singles final of the 2026 French Open will take place on Sunday between Alexander Zverev and Flavio Cobolli. Both players are vying for their first French Open title. Zverev secured his spot in the final by defeating Czech star Jakub Menšik, while Cobolli advanced after Matteo Arnaldi withdrew from the match due to illness.
In the first semifinal, Zverev triumphed over Menšik in a four-set battle lasting three hours and one minute, winning 7-5, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 at the Philippe-Chatrier court in Paris. This marks Zverev’s second appearance in a French Open final.
After his victory, Zverev remarked, “Menšik started playing exceptionally well in the third set. He really reached a different level. But this is a Grand Slam. It’s a best-of-five set match. The second semifinal was a heartbreaking affair for Matteo Arnaldi, who had to withdraw from his match against Cobolli due to a viral illness on Friday in Paris. With Arnaldi’s withdrawal, Cobolli has reached his first Grand Slam final, where he will face Zverev on Sunday.
The final between Zverev and Cobolli is expected to be thrilling. Zverev leads their ATP head-to-head series 3-1, having defeated Cobolli in the third round of Roland Garros last year with a score of 6-2, 7-6(4), 6-1.
