Titans Trade All-Pro Jeffery Simmons to Bears Amid 1-6 Struggles
The Titans traded Jeffery Simmons to the Bears for two first-round picks amid a disappointing 1-6 season.

The Tennessee Titans traded All-Pro defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons to the Chicago Bears for two future first-round draft picks and a fourth-round selection. The deal comes as the Titans struggle with a 1-6 record this season.
Titans head coach Robert Saleh stated that the team was not actively looking to trade players, but given their current situation, teams have been inquiring about their players. “No one’s shopping any of our guys, but… when you don’t close out games, and you’re standing here at 1-6, teams are going to start fishing,” Saleh said.
The Bears agreed to send their 2027 and 2028 first-round picks, along with a 2027 fourth-round pick, to the Titans in exchange for Simmons and a 2028 fifth-round pick. The Chicago franchise is positioning itself for a Super Bowl run, supported by their current 5-2 record.
According to Bears general manager Ryan Poles, acquiring Simmons was a key move to bolster the team’s defense. The Titans’ owner, Amy Adams Strunk, expressed gratitude toward Simmons for his contributions both on and off the field, noting, “We are forever grateful for all he has given this team and this city.”
Saleh described Simmons as “by far” the top defensive tackle in the league and acknowledged the difficulty of the decision to trade him. “It sucks. Everything about it sucks. Unfortunately, necessary,” he said.
Although the trade marks a challenging moment for the Titans, the picks may aid in rebuilding efforts. With Simmons departing, the Bears hope to capitalize on their defensive strengths as they aim for continued success this season.
