Major Rule Changes Effective from November 1

Mumbai, October 30: As November approaches, several significant rule changes and updates will take effect starting November 1, 2026. These changes will impact various groups, including the general public, pensioners, taxpayers, and businesses. Here are the key updates to be aware of:

1. Caller Identification on Mobile Phones
From November 1, the CNAP service will be implemented on 4G and 5G networks. This means that when receiving calls from unknown domestic numbers, the name registered with the telecom company may be displayed, aiding in identifying unknown callers.

2. Life Certificate Submission for Pensioners
Government pensioners will be required to submit their life certificates starting November 1, with a deadline set for November 30, 2026. For pensioners aged 80 and above, this process began on October 1.

3. New ITR Deadline for Some Taxpayers
The deadline for filing Income Tax Returns (ITR) for taxpayers whose accounts require a tax audit has been extended to November 21, 2026. However, this relief does not apply to all taxpayers.

4. Changes in GST Regulations
Effective November 1, there will be changes in GST regulations concerning discounts given after sales, tax refunds, and various business-related processes. These changes will primarily affect businesses and tax-related operations.

5. LPG Cylinder Prices Review
Oil companies will review LPG cylinder prices on the first day of each month. New rates are expected to be announced on November 1, but it remains uncertain whether prices will increase or decrease until the official announcement is made.

6. Possible Changes in FD Interest Rates
Banks may adjust fixed deposit (FD) interest rates based on their needs and market conditions. However, there is no uniform rule for all banks regarding changes in FD rates starting November 1, so it is advisable to check the new rates with the respective bank before investing.

These updates are crucial for individuals and businesses alike, and it is recommended to stay informed about how they may affect your finances.
