Upcoming iPhone 18 to Feature Major Upgrades

Mumbai, October 30: Apple is gearing up to launch the standard iPhone 18, expected to hit the market around March 2027. While the company has not officially confirmed the details, leaks suggest significant upgrades in the upcoming model.
The iPhone 18 is anticipated to retain the 48-megapixel primary camera and the 48-megapixel ultra-wide sensor found in its predecessor, the iPhone 17. However, it may introduce a new processor, increased RAM, and a redesigned camera layout.
According to reports, the iPhone 18 will likely feature the new A20 processor, built using TSMC’s 2nm process, promising better performance and battery efficiency compared to the A19 chip in the iPhone 17. This new chip could enhance power efficiency by approximately 30%, potentially extending battery life.
In terms of design, the iPhone 18 may borrow elements from the Pro model, featuring a wider camera module on the back. However, no major upgrades to the camera hardware are expected.
Another anticipated change is the introduction of a camera control button that could replace the existing touch-based system with a pressure-sensitive mechanism, allowing users to activate different functions by applying varying levels of pressure.
Reports also indicate that Apple may increase the RAM in the standard iPhone 18, with some suggesting it could have 12GB, while others estimate around 9GB. This would be an upgrade from the 8GB RAM in the iPhone 17, enhancing multitasking capabilities and supporting Apple’s on-device AI features.
The display is expected to remain a 6.3-inch OLED, similar to the iPhone 17, but with thinner bezels for a sleeker look. The display will likely continue to support a 120Hz refresh rate with ProMotion technology.
Additionally, the iPhone 18 is expected to come with iOS 27, featuring an upgraded Siri AI that can understand conversational commands, utilize on-screen information, and perform tasks across different apps.
While Apple has not disclosed pricing details, the standard iPhone 18 is speculated to be priced around ₹1 lakh, similar to the revised price of the iPhone 17. There are discussions that Apple might launch the iPhone 18 at the same price as the iPhone 17’s launch price of ₹79,900, although higher storage variants could be more expensive due to rising chip and memory costs.
The base variant of the iPhone 18 is expected to offer 256GB of storage, as Apple removed the 128GB entry-level variant with the iPhone 17. Currently, there are no indications that the company plans to reintroduce it. The top variant may be limited to 512GB storage, with no expectations for a 1TB option in the standard model.
