Katihar, October 3 (Udaipur Kiran News): In a tragic incident in Purnia district of Bihar, four youths were killed and two others seriously injured after being hit by the Vande Bharat Express train early Friday morning. The accident occurred around 5 a.m. near Jawanpur Gumti on the Katihar–Jogbani rail section, while the youths were returning after attending a Dussehra fair.

According to Kasba police, all the deceased and injured were residents of Chandpur Bhanga village under Banmankhi block of Purnia district. They were employed at a makhana (fox nut) factory in Purnia. Police also recovered a mobile phone from the accident site.
Officials from Kasba Police Station and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) stated that the youths had gone to Kasba to attend the Dussehra Mela and were walking along the tracks when the speeding Vande Bharat Express struck them. The Railway Police have informed the families of the victims, and the bodies will be handed over after post-mortem.

Police said the injured youths are being treated at Purnia GMCH, and their condition remains critical. Eyewitnesses said the train was moving at such high speed that the victims had no time to react or escape.
