England Sets 151-Run Target for Australia in Womens T20 World Cup Final

London, July 5: In the final match of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, England has set a target of 151 runs for Australia. England’s captain, Nat Sciver-Brunt, played a pivotal role by scoring a half-century.

The match, held at the historic Lord’s ground, saw England lose the toss and bat first. Their start was rocky, losing both openers cheaply. Amy Jones was dismissed for 6 runs, while Danny Wyatt managed only 8 runs. At 32 runs, England found themselves at 2 wickets down. However, captain Sciver-Brunt and Alice Capsey steadied the innings with a partnership of 35 runs for the third wicket.

Capsey scored 23 runs off 20 balls before being dismissed. England faced another setback when Heather Knight fell for just 2 runs, leaving the team at 70 for 4. Sciver-Brunt and Freya Kemp then formed an unbeaten partnership of 80 runs, helping the team reach a total of 150 runs in 20 overs. Kemp played aggressively, scoring 44 runs off 28 balls, including 1 six and 4 fours, while Sciver-Brunt remained not out at 58 runs off 53 balls, hitting 5 fours. Although she started quickly, her innings slowed down due to the loss of wickets.

For Australia, Kim Garth, Lucy Hamilton, captain Sophie Molineux, and Annabel Sutherland each took 1 wicket.

England will need a strong bowling performance to secure their second World Cup title, aiming to win on home soil for the first time since 2009. Meanwhile, Australia will strive to claim the championship for the seventh time.
