Udaipur: Integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into teaching and research has become a necessity in the changing technological environment, and teachers should acquire knowledge of the latest AI technologies to prepare students for future challenges, said Janardan Rai Nagar Rajasthan Vidyapeeth Chancellor B.L. Gurjar.
He was speaking at the concluding ceremony of the six-day National Faculty Development Programme sponsored by the AICTE ATAL Academy.
Organised by the Department of Computer Science and IT at Rajasthan Vidyapeeth, the offline national faculty development programme focused on “AI-Driven Teaching Methodology: Transforming Computer Applications through Generative AI and Practical Applications.” Experts from different parts of the country introduced faculty members and research scholars to the latest AI technologies, tools and their practical applications.
Teachers Should Make Effective Use of AI in Teaching
Presiding over the concluding ceremony, Chancellor and Kulpramukh B.L. Gurjar said the knowledge gained during the six-day programme should not remain limited to individual learning. It should also be reflected in teaching, research, departmental activities and the development of the university.
He said that considering the rapid pace of technological change, teachers need to effectively and meaningfully integrate AI into their teaching methods.
University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Manju Mandot said continuous developments are taking place in the field of AI, making it necessary for teachers and research scholars to regularly update their knowledge and skills.
She said that discussions on research papers and high-impact research literature during the FDP helped establish meaningful academic interaction among participants. She described the programme as useful from the perspective of teaching and research and extended her best wishes to all participants for their future.
Extensive Discussions from Machine Learning to Quantum AI
FDP Coordinator Dr Chandresh Kumar Chhatlani presented a detailed report on the six-day programme.
He said experts provided training on several contemporary subjects, including introduction to Artificial Intelligence, machine learning and large language models, deep learning, neural networks, natural language processing, computer vision, prompt engineering, AI-based curriculum development, Python-based AI frameworks, TensorFlow and PyTorch, the role of AI in implementing the National Education Policy-2020, ethical AI, reducing bias in AI, data privacy, responsible AI, research methodology in AI, automated assessment and grading, quantum AI and next-generation communication.
Industrial Visit Added Practical Dimension to Training
During the programme, participants also visited JK Lakshmi Cement Works, Manderia Mines and limestone mines at Daroli as part of an industrial visit.
The participants observed various activities and processes being carried out at the industrial units and gained an understanding of the practical aspects of technical knowledge.
Before the conclusion of the programme, a mandatory multiple-choice questionnaire was conducted for all participants. The participants took part in the assessment enthusiastically.
At the concluding ceremony, Prof. Manish Shrimali expressed gratitude to the guests, subject experts, organising committee and all participants. The programme was conducted by Dr Madhu Murdia.
