
Kolkata : The aviation and train services at Dum Dum airport and Indian Railways’ Howrah and Sealdah stations in the city were disrupted for over five hours owing to dense foggy conditions on Monday, official sources said.
Incoming and outgoing flights at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport had been suspended from about 04 hours on Monday due to poor visibility.
Even attempts were made to run the flight services with additional floodlights could not yield any results causing the delay of the flights in the departure as well as the landing at the airport, officials added.
Sources said the schedules of the flights for the day would affect. They said the Airport Authority of India considered the safety of aviation and the passengers on top priority.
The train services of Eastern Railway and South Eastern Railway at the Sealdah and Howrah stations were also disrupted causing a delay of the long-distance trains both up and down.
The authorities also regulated the local trains allowing the long-distance passenger’s services to halt or move cautiously. The source said the visibility was even less than 50mts owing to dense fog and smog. The tempPC RN
