Dav Hzl School, Zawar Mines, To Represent Rajasthan In Nationals As Zinc Football Academy Dominates Subroto Cup 2019-20 Qualifiers

Udaipur : Representing DAV HZL School, Zawar Mines, Zinc Football Academy has created history with their first major trophy of the year as the young team claimed the Under-17 Subroto Cup Qualifiers held at DPS Jhunjhunu. Courtesy of their invincible record in the tournament which was played among 13 best schools in the state, the team from Udaipur has grabbed the honours to represent Rajasthan state in the 2019-20 Subroto Cup Nationals.

Zinc Football Academy footballers defeated host DPS 3-0 in the grand finale to come out as the only unbeaten side of the tournament. Midfielder Adnan opened the scoresheet with a clean header as early as in the 6th minute from an inch-perfect corner by Himanshu. Aman Khan and Subhash Damor added one each in the second half to complete a memorable outing and lift the silverware in a tournament in which they have participated for the very first time.

Forward Aman Khan was the top scorer of the tournament with 5 goals in as many matches while surprisingly, defender Sonu grabbed the second position with 4 goals. Zinc Football Academy team also showed tremendous defensive capabilities as they conceded just 1 goal in 5 matches.

Placed in Group C, Zinc Football Academy boys, all of whom are under the age of 15 years, defeated CH MRM Senior Public School from Sri Ganganagar 6-0 in the first match, followed by a hard-fought 3-1 win against Prince Academy Sikar. The final group match saw Zinc Football Academy comfortably winning 3-0 over Cambridge Court High School from Jaipur to seize the top spot in the group and march onto the semi-finals. In the last four, Zinc Football Academy overcame the spirited Sagar School from Alwar, in what eventually turned out to be a one-sided affair.

Conducted by the Indian Air Force, with support from India’s Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Subroto Cup Football Tournament is the most famous inter-school football tournament in India. Started in 1960, the tournament hosts preliminary inter-school tournaments in every state of India starting from Sub-division, District and Division level culminating in the inter-school finals at the national level. The school teams, winning the state inter-vacchool championships are then invited to participate in the main Subroto Mukerjee Cup Tournament at Delhi.

Suresh Kataria, Head Coach, Zinc Football Academy said: “We were preparing for this tournament since the last couple of weeks and I am very happy that our boys orchestrated well as they were keen to perform at a bigger stage. Now we will be representing Rajasthan which is a massive responsibility, but we will be up for the challenge.”
