New Delhi, October 17 (Udaipur Kiran): Former Bollywood actress Zaira Wasim, best known for her acclaimed performance in Dangal, has tied the knot. The actress, who quit the film industry at the age of 18, surprised fans on Friday by sharing pictures from her Nikah ceremony on Instagram.
In the two photos she shared, Zaira is seen signing her Nikahnama in one and watching the moon with her husband in the other. However, she did not reveal her husband’s name, and both faces were covered in the pictures. On her special day, Zaira wore a bright red lehenga, and captioned her post with the words — “Khubool Hai x3.”
Left Bollywood in 2019
Zaira had announced her decision to leave the film industry in 2019, citing religious reasons and personal dissatisfaction with her career in showbiz. At that time, she wrote that although fame brought her attention and admiration, it also distanced her from her faith and inner peace.
“Five years ago, I made a decision that changed my life forever. As soon as I entered Bollywood, I began receiving attention and was even seen as a role model by many. But that was never what I desired, especially when it came to success and failure,” she had written.
A National Award-Winning Actress
Zaira Wasim rose to fame with her debut in Aamir Khan’s sports drama Dangal, for which she received a National Award. She later appeared in Secret Superstar and The Sky Is Pink, alongside Priyanka Chopra and Farhan Akhtar.
Despite her promising career and widespread critical acclaim, Zaira stepped away from the limelight in June 2019, choosing to prioritize her faith and personal beliefs over fame.
