New Delhi, May 5: Union Minister for Food and Consumer Affairs, Pralhad Joshi, stated on Monday that the Congress party has little to no existence in the country, with its presence primarily limited to Kerala. He further predicted that the party would face a similar fate in Karnataka in the upcoming elections.
Addressing a press conference regarding the results of assembly elections in five states, Joshi described the outcomes as a clear mandate against poor governance, excessive appeasement, corruption, and lawlessness, showcasing strong support for the BJP-NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He highlighted the NDA’s historic victories in Assam, West Bengal, and Puducherry, attributing these successes to Modi’s effective governance over the past 12 years.
Joshi claimed that Congress has nearly vanished as a national party, with its presence dwindling in most states except Kerala. He pointed out the party’s poor performance in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu, asserting that even a few successes in Assam do not alter its overall standing.
He accused Congress of being rejected by the public due to its appeasement, corruption, and vote-bank politics. Criticizing the party’s political strategy, Joshi noted that Congress leaders were discussing alliances with actor Vijay’s party in Tamil Nadu, indicating a significant reduction in the party’s political space.
Furthermore, he alleged that Congress’s coalition politics and attitude in Kerala have weakened its position nationwide. Joshi remarked that the party’s continuous criticism and personal attacks on Prime Minister Modi have backfired.
He mentioned that the use of derogatory language against the popular Prime Minister has been met with a strong response from the electorate.
Speaking about the West Bengal election results, he claimed that voters previously feared casting their ballots due to law and order issues, but this time, strict measures encouraged participation. He thanked voters for standing against lawlessness by exercising their right to vote.
Commenting on the Karnataka by-election results, Joshi stated that the Congress government in the state is plagued by corruption, poor governance, and appeasement, predicting that the public will vote it out in the upcoming assembly elections.
