Cold Tightens Grip in Madhya Pradesh, 12 Cities Below 10°C; Fog in Bhopal, Indore and Ujjain

Bhopal, November 29 (Udaipur Kiran): Cold conditions have intensified once again across Madhya Pradesh with a sharp drop in temperatures over the past 24 hours. Severe cold has set in across several regions, with Kalyanpur in the Shahdol division emerging as the coldest location in the state. During the Thursday–Friday night, the minimum temperature in 12 cities, including Jabalpur and Gwalior, fell below 10 degrees Celsius. Dense fog was also reported in Bhopal, Indore and Ujjain during the morning hours.

Cold Tightens

According to the Meteorological Department, a western disturbance is active over Pakistan, while cyclonic circulation persists over Rajasthan. At the same time, northerly winds are affecting the region. Due to these combined systems, cold conditions have returned to the state, along with widespread fog. In Bhopal, haze begins from night itself, and morning visibility remains between 1,000 and 1,500 metres. The fog impact is expected to continue on Saturday as well.

After a rise in day and night temperatures over the past one week, a sudden drop of 4 to 5 degrees Celsius was recorded in just one night from Thursday to Friday. As per the weather department, Kalyanpur in Shahdol recorded the lowest temperature at 6.1°C. Other cold locations included Naogaon in Chhatarpur at 6.5°C, Rewa at 6.8°C, Umaria at 6.9°C, Khajuraho at 7.8°C, Malajkhand at 8.6°C, Datia at 9°C, Mandla at 9.3°C and Rajgarh at 9.6°C.

Among major cities, Jabalpur recorded the lowest at 9.4°C. In Bhopal, the temperature dropped by four degrees overnight to 11°C. Indore recorded 15.1°C, Gwalior 9.7°C and Ujjain 15.5°C. Temperatures in the remaining cities stayed above 10 degrees Celsius.
