CM Yogi Calls Kakori Incident a Revolutionary Action, Not a Robbery

Lucknow, August 9: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the ‘Kakori Train Action Centenary Celebration’ on Sunday, asserting that labeling the Kakori incident as a robbery undermines the sacrifices and objectives of the revolutionaries. He emphasized that their sole aim was to liberate India from British rule.

CM Adityanath remarked that while the British referred to the Kakori train action as a ‘robbery,’ unfortunate political narratives in independent India have continued to diminish the honor of these revolutionaries by calling it the ‘Kakori Robbery Case.’ He noted that events like Kakori and Chauri Chaura have not been given their rightful place in history.

He stated that the struggle for India’s independence was not the result of a single individual or ideology but involved millions fighting on various fronts, with many revolutionaries sacrificing everything. Forgetting these sacrifices distances the youth from their sources of inspiration.

Referring to the Chauri Chaura incident, CM Yogi pointed out that after this event, the Congress had suspended its movement. He mentioned that Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya defended the accused of Chauri Chaura, while some local leaders acted against the revolutionaries. The Chief Minister alleged that even after independence, revolutionaries have not received the respect they deserve. He highlighted that internal divisions and conspiracies against India were also responsible for the country’s subjugation.

He warned that forces attempting to weaken India by dividing society along caste and regional lines are still active today. CM Yogi identified social media as a new medium for anti-India propaganda, stating that it is being misused to spread misinformation and mislead society.

He urged the youth to remain vigilant against such propaganda. CM Yogi criticized those who kept the younger generation away from their revolutionary heroes, stating that denying young people the opportunity to take pride in their heroes is akin to diverting them from their ideals and sources of inspiration.

He accused those in power after independence of perpetuating this narrative for a long time. Many heroes and heroines who played vital roles in the freedom struggle have not received their due recognition in history. He cited figures like Rani Lakshmibai, Veerangana Uda Devi, Jhalkari Bai, and Avantibai Lodhi, noting that obstacles have been created even in establishing memorials and buildings in their names.

CM Yogi mentioned that for a long time, the politics surrounding the recognition of freedom fighters was limited to one family. Now, those heroes who dedicated their lives to India’s freedom and nation-building are finally being honored.

He concluded by stating that the Kakori Train Action is not merely a historical event but a chapter that inspires the youth with patriotism, courage, and sacrifice. It is essential to connect the new generation with the true heroes of the freedom struggle through such events.
