BSNL 4G Service State-owned telecommunications company BSNL is gearing up to launch its 4G services in December, starting with a small-scale introduction in Punjab. The Chairman and Managing Director of BSNL, P K Purwar, announced the company’s plans to gradually expand the service across the countryJune next year. Following the successful deployment of 4G, BSNL aims to upgrade to 5G services.

BSNL has already completed the necessary network hardening for its 4G service in Punjab, with 200 sites ready for launch. The company is now focusing on installing an additional 3,000 sites in the region. Over time, BSNL intends to increase its network deployment to 6,000, 9,000, 12,000, and finally 15,000 sites per month.
With a target to complete the nationwide 4G roll-outJune 2024, BSNL plans to transition to 5G services shortly thereafter. It has allocated sufficient spectrum for the deployment of 5G once the 4G roll-out is completed.
BSNL 4G Service has partnered with leading IT company TCS and government-owned ITI for the deployment of its 4G network. The contracts awarded to TCS and ITI are worth approximately Rs 19,000 crore and include provisions for the network’s upgradability to 5G.
