Bhilwara, March 6 (Udaipur Kiran): A tragic incident occurred in the Kotwali police station area of Bhilwara city on Friday morning when an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) died after a bullet accidentally fired from his service revolver while he was unloading it.

The deceased has been identified as Mahavir Singh, who was posted as an ASI at Kotwali police station. According to information, he had recently been promoted from the post of head constable to ASI.
The incident took place around 10 am when Mahavir Singh was at his home removing bullets from his service revolver to keep it safely. He had already removed three bullets and was taking out the fourth when the revolver suddenly fired. The bullet hit him directly in the head, leaving him critically injured, and he was later declared dead.
Hearing the gunshot, nearby residents rushed to the house and a crowd gathered at the spot within a short time. On receiving information, Superintendent of Police Dharmendra Singh and the Kotwali police team reached the scene.
Police conducted photography and videography at the spot and began an investigation. The body was later kept in the mortuary of Mahatma Gandhi Hospital.
The deceased’s cousin Tej Pratap Singh said that Mahavir Singh had returned home in the morning after completing night duty. After reaching home, he asked for tea and started removing bullets from his service revolver, saying that keeping a loaded revolver at home was not appropriate.
