Bandipora, January 4 – In a tragic incident in Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir, an army vehicle skidded off the road and fell into a gorge on Saturday, resulting in the martyrdom of four soldiers and injuries to two others.
According to officials, the accident occurred in the SK Payeen area when the army vehicle lost control on a slippery road and plunged into a nearby gorge. Rescue operations were launched immediately after the accident.
Rescue and Medical Assistance
Dr. Masrat, Medical Superintendent of Bandipora Hospital, confirmed that five of the injured soldiers were brought to the hospital. “Out of the six personnel involved in the accident, two were declared dead on arrival, and three critically injured soldiers were referred to Srinagar for advanced treatment,” she stated. Tragically, one of the soldiers succumbed to his injuries on the way to Srinagar.
Sources later reported that another critically injured soldier passed away en route to a Srinagar hospital, raising the death toll to four martyrs.
Investigation Underway
The army has initiated an inquiry into the incident to ascertain the exact cause of the accident. Preliminary reports suggest that the vehicle may have slipped due to adverse road conditions in the region. Efforts are being made to ensure the best possible medical care for the injured soldiers.
