Arjun Babuta Finishes Seventh in Air Rifle Final at ISSF World Championship

New Delhi, November 9 (Udaipur Kiran)Indian shooter Arjun Babuta secured the seventh position in the men’s 10m air rifle final on the opening day of the ISSF World Championship Rifle/Pistol, being held in Cairo.

Babuta entered the final after scoring 632.5 points in the qualification round. In the final, he managed a total of 145.0 points to finish seventh.

Germany’s Maximilian Dallinger clinched the gold medal, while reigning world champion Victor Lindgren of Sweden took silver and Olympic champion Sheng Liao of China won bronze.

Arjun began strongly with 51.9 points (10.6, 9.8, 10.6, 10.5, 10.4) in the first series and followed it up with 52.3 points (10.6, 10.1, 10.7, 10.2, 10.7) in the second. However, a 9.7 score on his 11th shot affected his ranking, leading to his early exit as the second shooter eliminated from the final.

Meanwhile, in the men’s 25m rapid fire pistol event, India’s Anish Bhanwala recorded an impressive 291–11x to take seventh place after the first qualification stage. Sameer Gulia scored 286–3x, and Adarsh Singh posted 285–8x. The second stage and the final will be held tomorrow, where the top six shooters will qualify for the medal round.
