Woman Killed After Truck Hits Her in Udaipur, Angry Crowd Sets Cabin on Fire

Udaipur, October 5: A 48-year-old woman riding a scooty was killed after being hit by a truck on the Titrdi-Gupteshwar Road in Udaipur on Monday morning. The woman died at the spot.

The incident triggered anger among her family members and local residents, who gathered at the spot and staged a protest. The angry crowd also set the truck’s cabin on fire and accused the police of reaching the spot late.

The incident took place at around 8 am. On receiving information, Savina police station in-charge Dalbir Singh reached the spot with police personnel and safely rescued the truck driver from the angry crowd before taking him into custody.

Woman Dies on the Spot

According to Station House Officer Dalbir Singh, the deceased has been identified as Nirmala Sahu (48), wife of Kanhaiyalal Sahu, a resident of Titrdi.

Police said the truck was entering Titrdi village when it collided with the scooty of the woman coming from the opposite direction on Titrdi-Gupteshwar Road.

The woman lived near the accident site. After the accident, her family members and other local residents reached the spot and began protesting against the incident.

Angry Crowd Sets Truck Cabin on Fire

The protesters gathered on the road and expressed their anger over the accident. The crowd also set the truck’s cabin on fire.

According to police, an attempt was also made to attack the people who had allegedly provided protection to the truck driver. Police intervened and safely took the driver into custody.

Police officials held talks with the protesters and brought the situation under control.
