Srinagar, 2 September (Kiran News): A weather scientist has predicted widespread rainfall across Jammu and Kashmir over the next 60 hours.

Independent weather forecaster Faizan Arif said that some parts of the Jammu region are likely to witness heavy to very heavy rain, though there may be occasional breaks. He also stated that water levels in rivers and streams are expected to rise significantly, and some areas could cross flood danger marks.
Rainfall is also expected in the Kashmir region, but with less intensity compared to Jammu. However, certain areas—especially the Pir Panjal mountains and higher regions of Kulgam, Shopian, and Anantnag—could receive heavy rain.
Faizan added that the water level of the Jhelum river is also expected to rise considerably during this period.
The forecaster has warned of occasional thunderstorms with strong winds and showers at some locations. Flash floods and cloudbursts cannot be ruled out, and rivers and streams in both regions may swell. Mountain passes are also expected to remain vulnerable to landslides and falling rocks.
Residents and travellers have been advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions during this period of intense rainfall.
